ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø and Light for Rural South Sudan

In rural South Sudan, most schools have no library, most students have no textbooks, and when the sun goes down, studying stops. This container will change that for more than 2,500 students. It will carry over 15,000 books and 3,000 donated solar lights to 22 rural schools and libraries. Your gift is what gets it there.

DOUBLE IMPACT

Our partner SolarBuddy has donated 3,000 solar study lights, which will travel in the same container as the books. That means every dollar that ships books also delivers light, bringing steady study light to more than 30 libraries and study areas where electricity is scarce.

YOUR GIFT AT WORK

- $16 ships 10 books

- $50 ships about 30 books, a full shelf for a classroom

- $160 ships 100 books, enough to start a classroom library

- $1,100 ships enough books to stock a library for an entire rural school

WHAT THE FIRST SHIPMENT ACHIEVED

In 2024, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø donated 25,000 books to EduPower Youth Foundation, with shipping supported by Rotary International. We did not stop at delivering boxes. We turned those books into working libraries:

- More than 18,000 books distributed to 22 schools and institutions across three states

- The Bor Town Community Library equipped with about 7,000 books, now a public learning space used every week by students, teachers, and community members

- Two school libraries fully set up, and 11 schools supported to establish their own

- 250 solar study lights from SolarBuddy distributed so students could keep reading after dark

ONE SCHOOL'S STORY

St. Augustine Secondary School sits in a deeply rural part of Ikwotos County. Before the books arrived, it had no library and very few textbooks. With more than 600 books, the school opened its first library.

"Our reading culture has improved, academic performance is rising, and students are gaining confidence in their studies."

— Mr. Atanga Isaac Kima, Head Teacher, St. Augustine Secondary School

WHERE THE NEXT SHIPMENT WILL GO

This container takes our work to communities we have not reached before: Western Equatoria, Lakes State, Warrap State, the Ruweng Administrative Area, and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. Over 15,000 books will go to 15 schools and 7 libraries. We will use the model that worked the first time, with shelves, trained volunteers, reading routines, and school ownership, so every book is read rather than stored.

A PARTNER YOU CAN TRUST
