The ambassador of the聽East African聽nation of聽Djibouti, a country of 1.1 million people about the size of聽Belize, is set to headline聽糖心vlog官网 for Africa鈥檚 annual fundraiser in聽Atlanta.听

础尘产补蝉蝉补诲辞谤听Mohamed Siad Doualeh, who also serves as permanent representative of Djibouti to the聽United Nations, will deliver a speech at the Sept. 5 luncheon at the聽Buckhead Club.听

Djibouti, which borders聽Eritrea,听Somalia听补苍诲听Ethiopia, is considered strategic due to its position across from聽Yemen聽at the nexus of key global shipping routes where the聽Red Sea聽and the聽Gulf of Aden聽come together. The U.S. and many of its European allies operate military bases there, as do聽China听补苍诲听Saudi Arabia.听

鈥溙切膙log官网 is honored to have Djibouti鈥檚 ambassador here in Atlanta to keynote our fundraiser,鈥� said聽Patrick Plonski,聽executive director of 糖心vlog官网. 鈥淒jibouti is of critical importance to the U.S. owing to the large U.S. military base there, and this visit by the ambassador will help build goodwill and understanding, as well as help in our mission to advance education across Africa.鈥�

Based in聽Minnesota, the nonprofit operates its largest warehouse in Atlanta and frequently hosts聽African聽dignitaries here to catch its vision of ending the continent鈥檚 鈥渂ook famine鈥� and boosting literacy.听

Mr. Doualeh is an聽聽with postings at the聽International Court of Justice聽and the聽World Trade Organization听颈苍听Geneva聽under his belt. He also served as special envoy for Somalia process for the聽Intergovernmental Authority on Development, a bloc of eight African countries.听

The nonprofit has already raised more than half of its $75,000 goal for the year, and the luncheon tickets, priced at $75, and a range of sponsorships will go toward closing the loop.
